Candles

  

Ritual candles are an important tool used in many practices, be it a “traditional” religion, a witch or a spiritualist. Different sizes and shapes are used depending on the need, be it spells, manifesting, rituals, or altars. They can be small like tea lights, votives, or charms; or they can be large like a pillar candle. They can also be in jars or free standing.


Ritual candles are powerful tools, even though they are simple, everyday items. They allow you to focus your intentions while raising energy for your manifestation, spell or ritual. A candle contains all four elements. Air is needed for a candle to burn. Earth is represented by the solid wax form of the candle. Water movement is seen in the movement of the melted wax. Fire is the flame that pulls together the intended use of the candle.


The candles should be chosen specifically for your intention. The size and color of the candle is often an important consideration. The candles can be plain and anointed with oil to add power to the working. However, the candle can have an image, word, symbol, or sigil on it to pack more of a punch for your working. A candle that is specific to the working with an image, specific color and an appropriate oil will add power and focus to your spell, manifestation or ritual like no other candle can.
